Exceptional Customer Service

When it was time to renew our warrant the customer service rep emailed us and offered her assistance. Once we spoke on the phone she gave me many payment options and various types of coverage/deductibles. She was very professional and helped us renew our warrant feeling safe and secure in our choices. Well Done !

Red Tape and Contract Loopholes

After my experience, I recommend staying away from this company and finding another home warranty program that doesn't have numerous loopholes. Allow me to share my story. I will also share, via word-of-mouth, my experience when I come across anyone engaged in the home purchase process. I’ve already notified my Realtor. My air conditioning unit failed. After some testing, it was determined the compressor was bad and needed replacement. The air conditioning unit was manufactured in 2014, so the compressor part was covered, but not labor. America's Preferred Home Warranty will not pay for the labor to have the part installed. There is specific contractual language stating that if the unit is under warranty in any way, America's Preferred Home Warranty will not engage in any repairs. This is completely unacceptable. If the entire unit were to fail outside of the manufacturer warranty, America's Preferred Home Warranty would have paid for the part and labor costs. Given the significant complexity of these systems, not to mention licensing requirements, I certainly cannot install the part myself; it must be done by a professional. The entire purpose of this warranty is to make a system and myself whole again after a covered system or component fails. This is clearly a clever contractual loophole to get out of what is likely a common occurrence. Furthermore, by having this within the contract of the warranty program, the consumer has no recourse for arbitration or legal avenues. It's very shameful that the company outlines Christian values as guiding principles. In fact, their mission statement reads: "We will work with all our heart, as though we were working for the Lord, and not for men." They may treat their employees well while warranty customers get the scraps. From their Yelp reply, BBB reply, numerous email replies, and phone communications, APHW is sticking to their guns and will not budge on this. They continue to use the same canned language. What they fail to understand is the terms and conditions in their contract are not within the best interest of the customer and are designed to limit payouts as much as possible. There is zero reason why that language should be in the contract and not be a covered service. The purpose of the warranty is to cover certain major systems, HVAC being one of them. When something breaks, covered under the program, it needs to be fixed. They know this specific occurrence is a loophole and is a common outcome. They draft wording to significantly limit their exposure to the issue.

Going back in their word

Contacted the company several days before a contractor could come to the home in order to make sure the claim was covered. I went in depth to describe the porblem in order to ensure this would be covered. They stated it would and it just needed to meet my deductible, which was not a problem. I am less than 4 months into my home warranty by the way. The day the contractor came out, who was very helpful, I entered my claim number, they spoke with my contractor, and NOW stated they would not cover any of the expenses for my sump pump, which because of all the rain and flooding in Indiana right now, is a major problem. I have heard numerous bad service reports and going back on their word reports. I now second that and will not recomment their services.

Best home warranty company

I have used two other major warranty companies in the past and I have hated them. This is by far the best company, and in my experience, they are easy to reach, and reimburse very quickly. I especially love that I can use my own contractors.

No response for weeks, "we need receipts and documents by midnight"

We opened a claim on our air conditioner for replacement. Everything should have been covered according to the contract of $450 for less than a year. They told us and the contractor not to start work until we heard back from them. 7 weeks went by and they replied with "YOU HAVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT TO SUBMIT RECEIPTS OR NONE OF THIS WILL BE PAID FOR." They won't tell me what I need to submit by midnight because they only put my wife's name on the contract...It really seems like they are trying to get out of paying for anything which happened with our washer and garbage disposal. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM!

Great Warranty

We’ve had to use this twice. Both time are repair was covered minus our deductible with out any problems. They also sent our reimbursement check promptly.

Run around

Some of our plumbing rusted in basement. America’s preferred won’t cover it because we didn’t install it. Load of crap. Had many issues with them. Use a different company.

Awful! They are useless

They do not cover anything and find a way out of everything. Customer service is awful. What is the point of having it if they refuse to cover. Am out right now 3k.. have a leak right now that will cost 10-15k and hey day not covered and it is a leak in the house in the bathroom.

Worse Company...Please heed my words "DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY"

The warranty was included with the purchase of my home. Three weeks in the home , I had plumbing issue. I phoned Americas Preferred Home Warranty to get solution. I was told to send in my Home inspection, which I did. I was told to find a plumber which I did. At this point I was told to call APHW when the plumber gets there and before the do any work. I felt like a child getting permission and the company did not trust my judge for me to pick a license contractor. After all this back in forth calling to APHW (5 calls) they proceed to tell me that is was not covered because the issue is outside not in the home. ( the pipes run in the house). The company find words and ways to not have to cover you. The customer service over the phone is Horrible. The call taker response like they are covering you and its there money. When in fact you are paying their salary. At the end. I was not happy with them and I don't recommend this company at all.

AMERICA'S PREFERRED IS Not what I prefer

If I could rate this company lower than 1 I would. Furnace not working and had to send copy of inspection. If the seller purchased the warranty what does the inspection have to do with anything. The topper is before the contractor does the work I have to call them and put the contractor on the phone. This still doesn't guarantee they will cover the work. They are NOT in the business of covering ANY repairs. My mom purchased a condo and her HW with Max Broock is at least courteous, helpful and kept following up until the work was done.

Furnace problem

We just purchased a home and have not officially moved in yet because the sellers ask for 30 days after closing. We also had warm days so no need to use the furnace. We have an issue and I called to make a claim and had to send home inspection. Then call around to find HVAC person on my own only to find out that most don't want to work with home warranty company because they are DIFFICULT. HORRIBLE COMPANY! My mom had a HW company that was prompt and provided licensed contractors to you.

WORSE COMPANY EVER

Do not do business with!!! Most worthless company out there, they always have something in the small print to keep from paying. Worthless as toilet paper about as useful too. I am reporting to 20/20 television show and maybe they will be out of business if America is lucky. They should not be allowed to do business, unless lying is their business of choice. I do not know how a business can stay around who acts this way. They do not even cover hot water heaters because of the age and condition of it, if it was new I wouldn't need a home warranty when I purchased a home. That is what these companies are SUPPOSE to be here for, not declining claims and LYING to get out of it.

Finally got the water heater paid for, to the plan maximum which is ridiculous $500. Actual cost $750.

Where can a person get a water heater installed for $500.

Only after being shuffled to 4 different reps and losing my temper and contacting a law firm about a class action on behalf of every complaint filed on the internet, it wouldn't have taken much to track people down. Still don't trust them after this experience we will see how future claims go if I have one.

Excuses and lies. Don't wast your money.

What a mess. Long story short we got nothing but lies and excuses. Even had to send them our last inspection on the house?! Only purpose of this i believe was to look for ways to not help you. To not have to make repairs. Funny part...it was almost time to renew when i had to file a claim. Glad I found out what type of company this was before I renewed. Save yourself the headache and the money. Seems they care more about taking your money. Sad because with service like this...you will never make any

Horrible Experience- They rip you off

When I bought my new home my realtor referred me over to this home warranty company so I took her advice. No one explained to me how it worked and what they covered and I never received anything from the home warranty company but they will gladly take your money and put up a fight to reimburse you. They still owe me $1,300 in repairs to my house that I paid out of pocket for. No one informed me during these repairs I could get it covered through my home warranty company so it was months after the repairs were done when I asked for reimbursement. They told me there was nothing they could do even though I explained to them I was not sure how the warranty worked and was not informed I had to call them first before I got the repairs done so I highly recommend anyone looking for a home warranty company to stay away from Americas Preferred Home Warranty Company. They will not try to work with you to resolve any issues. Not to mention the ladies who work in customer service are extremely rude. I will tell everyone I know to choose any company besides this one.
