used the company for the last year. appreciated being able to use my own service people and also the ease of reaching a live person when needed. my only negative is sometimes the formula to reimburse gets chopped considerably when max applied and depreciation added

Needed clarification on how the system worked

A very pleasant, short and to the point chat with Anna about how APHW worked - she was able to clear my understanding, and was only too willing to offer additional advice and help as necessary, without being pushy.

Never received my reimbursement check

I had a dishwasher replaced under the home warrentee earlier this year. I never received the check in the mail. Called and was told that there was a mandatory 90 day waiting period from the date they originally cut the check. Called today which was passed the 90 days. Tyler L assisted me. Received and email about an hour later saying that they cut me a new check.

I had to use my home warranty due to a problem with my HVAC system. The 2 workers I dealt with were professional and kind. They quickly resolved my claim. I am very appreciative.

Submitted my first claim today. The rep was friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and very engaged. It was a painless and easy process. Very thorough and detailed which helps a lot as this is my first time submitting a homeowners claim.

Positive Experience

I was having issues with my garage door opener. Once the contractor inspected and determined the cause, I called APHW, Derek handled everything with a friendly voice and quick, so I was not on the phone very long.

BEWARE OF APHW

POTENTIAL BUYERS BEWARE. From the moment I spoke to a representative while processing my claim I could tell that they were trying to weasel their way out of coverage. Even the contractor on-site noticed the same thing when they were on the phone to verify that my repair was indeed due to fair wear and tear. The rep stated that while the warranty lists parts covered and not covered, EVEN IF THE PART IS NOT LISTED AS SOMETHING THEY DON’T COVER, IT STILL IS NOT COVERED. In my situation, the water inlet valve (as PART of the dishwasher and confirmed to be defective by the contractor), needed to be replaced. However, the rep stated that the part was neither listed as covered or not covered, and as such, they said they said that they will not cover it. If the part isn’t covered, then they also cannot compensate you for the labor or diagnostic fee either. They claim they will cover more expensive parts of the dishwasher such as the motor but this experience has made me extremely cautious of any future coverage from them. So please do yourself a favor and search for other home warranty companies, such as America’s Choice, that will not try to give you the run-around. The last thing you need to worry about when buying your first home is getting duped by your home warranty insurer such as America’s Preferred.

Your experience is very similar to mine...and, I've discovered, dozens or hundreds of others. Keep in mind, these represent only those of us who take the time to write reviews.

So your case, my case, the others; they are not anomalies or misunderstandings. This is systematic, strategic on the part of APHW. In other words, a scam. All we can do is help others, so that's what I'm doing.

Thanks for doing so as well. *Anyone* still considering this company: please also see TrustPilot.com, Yelp.com, and Reddit reviews.

These are not isolated cases. Beware.

They got me too. They won't put their denials in writing so when you appeal to a supervisor (Nate, in my case) they just switch reasons for the denial.

Meaning, you have to call a contractor back out at your expense to contradict the new reason APHW manufactured.

It's whackamole, at best. Total scam.

Quick and fast help

4 days after buying a house, my water heater went out and leaked water all over the floor.. They paid 500$ within a week. It wasn't the whole cost, but it already paid for itself in the warranty... Brian Kropp, Satisfied home owner.

Contacting an attorney

Our water heater went out, we filed a claim on 6/17/19, my husband spoke with Elaine and was told that our repairs and replacement would be covered 100%, we contacted a plumber and had them come to our home only to find that was untrue and the out of pocket expenses would come to over $1100.00, because the water heater was too old!

APHW does not want to pay for a new HVAC unit. They don't make this unit anymore and neither do they make the freon. There is a leak and both air handler and outside unit has to be replaced. The unit is is 11 years old and has out lived its expectancy. APHW are looking...

Worst experience ever...2-2019

We bought the home warranty ,with the hope of having a peace of mind if something was to break.. Well this was an epic fail. We had a water leak in the kitchen sink that leaked in the basement.. the plumber was here for 3 hours. The pipe that failed was sitting back behind my new cabinets, they would have needed to rip them out( warranty wouldn't pay for that). Instead they decided to put the pipe straight down to the basement. They only want to pay $200.00 then minus my $100.00 deductible equalling a $100.00 for a plumber and team to be here 3 hours. Roughly that would have made them their hourly rate at 11.00. That's a slap in the face! I wanted to talk to the manager/supervisor who made the decision to pay 100.00 out of the 500.00 it cost to have it repaired. If you haven't already, you can stop waiting on that email. They promised same to me.

Never happened. This is a scam. They've got people in damage control now, responding online to all these negative reviews (hundreds of them, TrustPilot, Yelp, Reddit...) trying to keep the money flowing in as long as possible.

If you respond, you'll get another run-around. If you're considering America's Preferred Home Warranty, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION.
