Misleading for first time customer

Company did not explain the difference between “maximum” coverage vs what they ACTUALLY cover (a COUNTRY wide average, hopefully you’re not in a high cost city). Also that maximum is split over course entire year not per issue. This is all fine IF they had disclosed it to me on one of the two calls (gentleman who’s name I can’t remember & Portia) I had asked about the process as a first time user of the coverage. Upon addressing with a manager, Antonio did not offer any sort of apologies & instead called me out for a technicality of me not knowing-even at one point mentioning “he would have honored” if I had know they reference concealed plumbing different from snake piping. He referenced “terms and conditions” multiple times which have never been shared with me. Very disappointed with company’s lack of educating their customers & their response to what I feel are justified concerns.

Of course your concerns are justified. Small consolation, but if it wasn't your specific issue, it would've been another.

Unfortunately for you and me and hundreds of others, this America's Preferred Home Warranty is a scam. If you reply to their message here or elsewhere, you'll get another helping of *** from them, then they will sell your number to robocallers.

Worthless and Legalistic

Watch out. No understanding of emergency situations involving second properties. If you do not call them first, then they will not pay. Just out for the money. Will not renew after period ends.

They don't pay even if you do call them first, even if the repair is covered. That was just the first reason they gave you.

If you call them back, they'll give you another reason. Then they'll sell your contact info to telemarketers.

I just tried to call. Twice. To start a ho e warrantee on a home we closed on yesterday. You were recommended to us by a realtor in Georgia where we purchased our home. The first time my call was answered and I was just saying who I was and was hung up on. I called right back and could just hear background laughing and talking so I said Hello? The lady answered me by saying she was busy because she needed to go get a drink of water. Then she hung up on me. I am beyond amazed. I have always had a home warrantee in Arizona where I currently live and have nothing but great things to say about that company. One Guard. I am hoping to find a great warrantee company in Georgia as well even though I will be purchasing all new appliances. May e someone could give me a call and possibly check out your customer service center. They don’t seem too interested in new customers. Paula 715642****

They wait good until you get a contractor out and get the estimate. Put you on hold for a review and come back and say, sorry we don't cover that read the booklet again.

And the second punch is when they ask you to email your phone number so they "can assist you." They are selling contact info to telemarketers. Scam, twice over.

So far so good

What I love to he most about APHW is that I pick the contractor. I have control over who comes in my home to do the repairs. So many other places dictate of a list of “approved contractors” and In my experience the chosen contractor is one who can’t run a successful business do to incompetence and dirty business practices so they team up with a warranty company to “stay alive”. I had to make my 1st claim a few months after switching to them. It was a HVAC claim. Making the claim was easy. When then contractor came out and made the diagnosis we called back with him on site to have him report (as the APHW contract says to do)..unfortunately this is where we encountered a rude rep, we were advised that she had to check something then would call me right back and that it would just take few mins. She didnt, I called back, got her again-she remained RUDE. Ended the call to do my own research, called back and got a different guy who was GREAT! Basically I explain to him the issue and how I have the proof that the previous rep was lying. He took care of it IMMEDIATELY and the contractor was able to get to work. Once the work was completed I reported back to the company, emailed the receipt and that was that. After 2 weeks, my refund didn’t come so I called and the reps were great!! The agent, without my promoting, took the issue to her MGR and had my refund expedited so I would get it within a week. Companies have hiccups and companies have the occasional rude employee...it’s how they handle these things that make the difference. Outside of the one rude employee everyone else was great. Overall, I am happy with my experience. I spent days researching home warranty companies (I was no longer happy with 2-10) to switch to. I combed through all contracts including APHW with a small tooth comb to know all of what is covered, the stipulations, the exceptions the “won’t cover if” , allll the nitty gritty. I feel that if more people invested their time doing this, then their would be less issues. Know what you’re signing and paying for. For me, I liked what APHW had to offer over my previous warranty company and switched. So far so good....

And I DID get a contract before because i asked for one to review..... Sorry if you had issues..

Here's how I know this review was submitted by APHW - they won't give you the actual contract until you pay for the policy. BEWARE of this company.

Check the fine print

We have paid for our homeowners warranty for a year. Our HVAC evaporator coil needed to replaced. Our unit is under a manufacturers warranty that only covers the cost of the part itself. The labor, service call, and Freon was costed over $800 alone. I would have thought that the homeowners warranty would have paid for the additional cost minus our deductible. Nope! America’s Home Warranty only covers labor and service calls if there is a part to cover also. I don’t know why we are paying for a warranty service then. When I told the supervisor, Antonio, that I didn’t think this made sense he said, “ It makes perfect sense.” Terrible customer service response. Check the fine print with this company.

Not your fault! If it wasn't that reason for denial, it would have been something else.

APHW is a very successful scam.

See Yelp, Reddit, TrustPilot - any site that verifies reviews will have hundreds of horror stories about APHW. Only places like Google (where a company can pay individuals for fake reviews) and industry owned sites like homewarrantyreviews.com show anything favorable about APHW.

Horrible experience

One of the worst companies I have ever encountered. Was given a replacement price by the first person I spoke to, but then they quoted it at half if that figure, saying that only applied to "top end" appliances. I have a Kenmore, so I'm not sure what you need for your appliance to be considered top end. Moreover, I spoke to 5 different people over the course of one day. Not one person gave me the same answer as any of the others, I waited hours for call backs that never came, spent about an hour of hold time, and never did get a straight answer. We were considering extending the warranty (it was free with our home purchase.) Now, I will not only NOT extend it, I will warn everyone I know what a scam this company is.

Not getting reemburst for repair

Had a heating problem, called a heating co and they immediately came out and fixed the problem. Submitted the bill to home warranty and they refused to pay because i didn't call first and get authorization.

Air Conditioner fixed

This happened several months ago. The total process was painless. My only negative comment would be please don’t allow so many calls in the que when the CSR has to talk to the repairman. He does not want to waste his time waiting for the ok to fix. Time is money to them

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE

On June 30th, I called Americas Preferred Home Warranty about my AC not working. On this day the heat index was 106 degrees. I called first thing in the morning. I was told exactly what I needed to do and how I would get reimbursed. I was given all the correct information. I called around and found a contractor that was willing to work with my home warranty and was able to come out on the same day which was on a Saturday. The contractor spoke to Americas Preferred Home Warranty representative before he begun the work. My claim did get approved and I was provided with the information on how to get reimbursed the difference after my deductible. I would highly recommend Americas Preferred Home Warranty to my co-worker, family and friends.
